The mission of this China Group Study Exchange is to exchange ideas, learn from each other in the areas of our professions, and to establish lasting contacts and friendships. Our theme is business and cultural awareness, and communication. We are excited to learn from our Chinese hosts and to make new friends and contacts that will last even when we come back home. We will incorporate what we have learned from Rotary throughout our trip, and will show respect and honor for our hosts and sponsors. This experience will be invaluable to us, and we are all very excited to go to China and represent District 5450.
“Where the Mountains Meet the Plains” describes the geography of District 5450, which stretches from the rural plains of eastern Colorado to the Rocky Mountains in the west. The state of Colorado, once inhabited by 27 species of dinosaurs, is now home to about 5 million people. With over 300 days of sunshine each year, the temperatures are not as cold as people think; in the wintertime we often have days with 21ยบ C. Colorado is home to more college graduates per capita than any other state and its extensive university/college system offers degrees in over 150 fields of study. The capital city, Denver sits near the center of the state and at 1609.34 meters above sea level is called the “Mile-High City.” Over 3,200 Rotarians who implement and support major projects for water, health/hunger and literacy belong to 58 clubs in District 5450.
